What is Promising Pages?

Promising Pages is a fun and exciting free program that helps promote the love of reading for a lifetime.

What We Do

Promising Pages collects new or gently used children's books and wraps them as special presents to redistribute them back into the community to kids who have few, if any books at home.

Kids Love Erm and Erma

We do this with the help of our mascots, Erm the Book Worm, and their Magic Book Parties. Kids light up with excitement when they receive their gift wrapped books presented as Magic Gifts. eighty percent of the books we collect are from kids who have outgrown them. They are in great shape, having only been read a few of times.

What We Do

It's amazing to see the reaction of the children who receive these special presents. It's a concept that the Charlotte Observer referred to as a "literary first" in an article on 5/11/11.

Our Impact

Our Magic Gifts greatly impact the kids who receive them. You can literally watch the magic happen as their little faces light up when they receive their books at one of our Magic Book Parties. Our hope is that the excitement we generate sparks their enthusiasm toward reading and learning for a lifetime.

This is monumental because it's the good readers who make the good grades, who have good self esteem, who later go to college and get scholarships and break the cycle of poverty. Our Promising Pages concept has already proved to have a big impact in the kids we have served, even though we have only been around for since 2011.
